about
Blue Hyundai is an ode to a very close friend about a memorable summer we had together while we were both going through a rough time. We would take drives together to the lake, to other cities, to restaurants, and she’d always insist that she drive her blue Hyundai. To me, the car represented a vessel of our journey together as we transitioned through another time. She also has an affinity for sunflowers so I speak to the idea of growth using floral imagery. I wanted to write a song about how deeply I felt for her and from that Blue Hyundai was born.
lyrics
Bubble blue sky, brisk wind, mid-July
I miss them summers the same way I miss you
Hand around my head
My tears had a landing pad for all the times and things I went through
Depression is a bummer plus my label talking numbers
I’m just tryna get a number on you
Sunflowers and honey
Lemon with my chamomile tea warm like my summer with you
You had the blue Hyundai
My favorite day was Sunday, cause I was free, yes I know you remember
To where does time runaway?
It was March one day
I look up again and now it’s December
If I told you there’s a garden growing silently beneath a winter moon
How much would you believe?
Cause this house I call a body’s landscaping all around me
I got flowers in the attic growing
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you
Sunflower shoulder, self-esteem smoke growing
Got the spa going up on a Tuesday
Putting mileage on the car for a clear view of the stars
Hit the shore and put you up on a new wave
November felt like April
Cheez-its and chocolate cake
I say what an interesting cuisine
My world been global warming since you showed up during mourning
I got climate changing up my routines
You had the blue Hyundai, my favorite day was Sunday
Cause I was free, yes I know you remember
To where does time runaway?
It was March one day
I look up again and we’re through December
If I told you there’s a garden growing silently beneath a winter moon
How much would you believe
Cause this house I call a body is landscaping all around me
I got flowers in the attic growing
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
Would you believe me, would you believe that I’m growing it for you?
